Two St. Nicholas, a sustainable school project in Uganda and a vision
Our St Nicholas team breakfast today was enriched by the unexpected visit of two St. Nicholas from the Africa Rise e.V. organisation. One of the two was none other than John Magiriba Lwanga, the first chairman of Africa Rise e.V., also known as Johnny Strange, the singer and co-founder of the band Culcha Candela. In his luggage: a fascinating project - the sustainable school project in Buwama, Uganda, which we have been enthusiastically supporting for three years now.
The EDI Buwere Vocational College - an impressive vocational school with an attached boarding school - is about to make a new start. The school is to be rebuilt on newly acquired land after the old lease expired.
Sustainability as a guiding principle. The association's ambitious vision of turning this educational establishment into an international hub of the network and realising the highest sustainability standards, leaves a deep impression on us.
But how do we organise the energy supply? The handling of electricity and energy - a challenge that our project developers are already eagerly discussing.
We look ahead. Perhaps our support in the coming year will go beyond the financial aid...
