re.venture Receives Building Permit for Kr\u00e4nzlin Battery Storage Park<\/h4>
KR\u00c4NZLIN, DEUTSCHLAND \u2013 16. September 2025<\/h5>

Berlin-based energy developer re.venture GmbH has received the building permit for a large-scale battery storage facility in Kr\u00e4nzlin, Brandenburg. The project will be the largest battery storage park within the e.dis grid area and one of the largest approved in Germany.<\/p>

Spanning 1.5 hectares, the facility will deliver 60 MW of power with a storage capacity of 240 MWh\u2014enough to supply the city of Neuruppin for 12 hours. Its modular architecture allows for seamless expansion up to 480 MWh, ensuring adaptability to future energy requirements.\u00a0<\/p>

The storage system is designed to relieve and prevent regional grid congestion, ensuring reliable energy supply for industry, municipalities, and households. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with commissioning planned for 2027.<\/p>

\u201cEvery year in Brandenburg, significant amounts of renewable electricity are curtailed because the grid cannot absorb the generated energy. The facility in Kr\u00e4nzlin will be able to store up to 96 GWh of locally generated energy annually that would otherwise be lost. The Kr\u00e4nzlin battery storage project demonstrates how ecological, economic, and social benefits can be combined,\u201d emphasized Jens Kompauer, Founder & CEO of re.venture GmbH.<\/p>

The construction of the park will generate significant economic momentum: the need for costly redispatch and curtailment measures will decrease, system costs will be reduced, and the region\u2019s attractiveness as a business location will increase. \u201cFor the district, Kr\u00e4nzlin sends a strong signal: more energy security, less curtailment, and noticeable relief for our grids,\u201d said the District Administrator of Ostprignitz-Ruppin. \u201cThe project combines regional value creation with reliable energy for businesses, municipalities, and households.\u201d<\/p>

Technologically, the facility sets new standards: two dedicated substations with direct connection to e.dis\u2019s 110 kV level ensure seamless grid integration. Its modular design allows for future expansions as needed. Thanks to Fast Frequency Response, the storage system can balance grid fluctuations almost in real time\u2014a significant advancement over conventional gas turbines, which require several minutes to respond. Additionally, the system can provide essential grid services such as primary control reserve (FCR), secondary and minute reserve (aFRR\/mFRR), and black start capability.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cWith Kr\u00e4nzlin, we are deploying cutting-edge storage technology. Thanks to millisecond-level response times, the system balances fluctuations almost instantly\u2014and can even support grid restart in emergencies,\u201d added Ingo Ernst, CTO & Co-Founder of re.venture GmbH.\u00a0<\/p>

Thanks to its modular architecture, the capacity can be flexibly expanded to up to 480 MWh to meet future energy needs. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with commissioning planned for 2027.<\/p>
